Newsvine: Album Review - This Loud Morning (David Cook)
Album Review: This Loud Morning (David Cook)

If there’s one thing I’ve noticed with songwriters and I admire most, it’s the courage they have to strip themselves down; exposing their thoughts and feelings to a capricious world while diving into a deep unknown abyss just to know that someone along the way understands that very meaning they’re trying to articulate. Deep, well-thought songs don’t come from the surface. They come from deep down with an open heart and mind that allows for poetry, melody and passion to permeate through.

An artist who never fails to wear his heart on his sleeve is David Cook, the past winner of the FOX reality show, American Idol but don’t peg him into the Idol cliché. Cook is one of the rare winners along with Carrie Underwood and Kelly Clarkson who’s able to stand on his own two feet and found success over the years by laying his heart on the line. Lyrically and vocally, Cook is impressive and by far one of the finest musicians emerging today. It’s been about two and a half years since his platinum-selling self-titled album debuted and the wait has been worth it.

newsvine - movie review: the adjustment bureau
Love. What is it? Most times it's made up of coincedences which intertwine with chance and fate and can be tormentful as time passes but true love? True love stories never have endings. They start, each day you're with the other; love stays fresh and true when you're with the one that matters most to you. Afterall, love recognizes no barriers. It jumps hurdles and leaps fences, can penetrate walls to arrive at its destination full of hope. Love is about the battle.

Check out my latest review on a film, I highly recommend: The Adjustment Bureau...

Movie Review: The Adjustment Bureau

It is said that each man is the architect of his own fate as he dreams of his destiny, without fear and yearns to make it a reality for when the time is right. However, we are guided through life with the notion that we have our own decisions to make, tinkering with the thought of choices and freewill. But is freewill a misconception? Is our fate already predetermined?

George Nolfi’s directorial debut The Adjustment Bureau dabbles with the concept that there is only an appearance of freewill and that all of life’s major choices are predetermined by a higher authority and the path they’ve chosen for us. Nolfi, who also wrote the screenplay loosely based on Phillip K. Dick’s short story, “The Adjustment Team”, dives deep into the age old debate of freewill vs. fate with a fresh spin on the philosophies of life and theology, with regards to fate, destiny, chance and the greater picture of our very being.

She's all laid up in bed with a broken heart.
While I'm drinking jack all alone in my local bar
And we don't know how we got into this mad situation
Only doing things out of frustration.

Trying to make it work but man these times are hard.
She needs me now but I can't seem to find the time.
I've got a new job now in the umemployment line
And we don't know we got into this mess, is it God's test?
Someone help us cause we're doing our best.

Trying to make it work but man these times are hard...

this! this show!!!!
Oh my Lord. This show is seriously going to have my ovaries erupt into such an orgasmic joyful nature that I just don't know what to do with myself anymore. I am in love with Clark and Lois. I want this life. Is this possible? Like, can this really really exist? I want someone that I can run to, jump on them and call my own and they won't care if they fall back. You know? Because they'd be equally happy.

thinking of futures

On Friday night, I fell in love.

All over again and it was magical.

I love Smallville -- have since the show started back in 2001 and this past Friday's episode gave me reason to love it more. There have been a few weak seasons and some redundant writing and terrible storylines that don't pertain to anything from the comicbook (yes, I'm a geek that way too) but the 200th episode that aired, was just amazing. For those of you who aren't fans, I'd still really love for you to check out this scene below because it is by far one of my favourites ever now, hands-down. It's brilliantly directed and it's charming; the actors who play Lois and Clark have amazing chemistry. You see, the beauty of Lois and Clark is that even though they aren't real, they are intelligent and smartly crafted characters that do exist in real life -- they can exist. That love and affection; that immense care and adoration...it's real. Call me a romantic sap but, being with the one person who gets you, connects with you -- loves you? That's it. That takes the cake and you wouldn't need anything else because you'd be happy. No more searching. Heck, the United States Declaration of Independence even states, citizens are entitled to "life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness"; it's a natural right. If you keep searching once you have it all, it means you're not happy and it boils down to you at the end of it. Aristotle said "happiness depends upon ourselves" and I couldn't agree more. Only we truly know what makes us happy at the end of the day and we're the sole providers of it...

Now, you see, at this stage in Smallville, Lois and Clark are friends -- not really, dating but they have an underlying appreciation and love for one another. Lois thinks Clark still loves Lana (and it hurts her) as he has a hard time letting go of the past but that's it. Lana is a part of his past; they have incredible memories together but that's that. Memories are just memories. You build upon them to build who you want to be and create that defining character of who you are. There's another great scene where Clark has to let go and the only way to do it, is to move forward and pay a visit to his father's grave. It's a really tender scene and it's hard letting go. I mean, I hate letting go but you can't go ahead in life if you keep looking back. You're going to trip.

The scene above is gorgeous. I tear up at how lovingly charming it is and enchanting; never seen anything like it. They don't kiss but you can see there's more to it than just a physical affection; there's a definite spark and that's just -- sigh, romantic! Also, Clark can't fly as yet in the show but it's cute to see that Lois, his one true love inspires him to be the man he chooses to be after struggling with who he needs to be.

Also! Because of this episode, I updated my journal...rather, redecorated a bit -- got a new banner (sorry Jimmy my old man!), got a new Friends Only banner (hello again Jimmy my old man!) and lost a piece of my soul because I had to delete an icon. I hate icon space. Don't these bastards know you can't define such heavy intense emotions in such limited spaces of just 15 icons? Blasphemy. But check out my page huh? Let me know what you think of the redecorating and such. It's not a big change. Like, this icon I got is the new one. Got rid of my Inception one which was...gosh, it was so hard guys. ;___;

Yes! Just realized football's tonight! \o/

PS: The song in the scene is by Kim Taylor and is called, "Baby, I Need You".

I'm in Heaven,
And my heart beats so that I can hardly speak;
And I seem to find the happiness I seek
When we're out together dancing, cheek to cheek.

I'm in Heaven,
And the cares that hang around me thro' the week
Seem to vanish like a gambler's lucky streak
When we're out together dancing, cheek to cheek.

Oh! I love to climb a mountain,
And to reach the highest peak,
But it doesn't thrill me half as much
As dancing cheek to cheek.

Oh! I love to go out fishing
In a river or a creek,
But I don't enjoy it half as much
As dancing cheek to cheek.

Dance with me
I want my arm about you;
The charm about you
Will carry me thro' to Heaven

I'm in Heaven,
and my heart beats so that I can hardly speak;
And I seem to find the happiness I seek
When we're out together dancing cheek to cheek.

And we're caught up in the crossfire
Of heaven and hell
And we're searchin' for shelter
Lay your body down
Lay your body down
Lay your body down

Watching you dress as you turn down the lights
I forget all about the storm outside
Dark clouds roll their way over town
Heartache and pain came-ah pouring down
Like hail, sleet and rain, yeah they're handing it out

And we're caught up in the crossfire
Of heaven and hell
And we're searchin' for shelter
Lay your body down
Lay your body down
Lay your body down...

this makes me happy!! ♥
So my lovely Ashleigh (aka [livejournal.com profile] ch_ch_chinatown) - the red headed firecracker that she is, is seriously one of my favourite singers. I will not take that back darling. She is amazing, guys! And her voice has this awesome sincerity to it and I love the tone. It reminds me of old school jazz. You know? So delicate and vulnerable. You all have to hear her!

And it's sweet! I really love this song and her version is awesome. I haven't heard the original version by Colbie Caillat as yet but I don't know if I want to because I firmly believe Ashleigh owns this song. Plus guys! OMG!! I was giggling and squeeing so hard! She dedicated it to me and the charming...Mr. James over at her journal!! Ahhh! Hehehhe!! <333

And please vote for her on the Online Idol competition on AINOW.tk! She's in the semi-finals!! Vote for her! She'd make for a great Idol! Why? Because she's awesome and seriously, who doesn't want an awesome Idol?? Riight?? :D

Ashleigh, thank you darling! That was seriously so sweet and you're an amazing singer! You know I've always thought that regardless of dedicating it or not and I admire your voice. It's beautiful! Now when you get famous, promise me you'll let me interview you, LOL! :D *hugs*

Cakelulu and Moustache Watch '08

I just wrapped up my interview with Cakelulu, also known as Jane from MJO and it went really well. She's a very talented woman and I'm really excited for her business venture! I think she's going to be an awesome cake maker and her creations are so very interesting and fun and she's really great at it! I learned a lot from her in the two hours we chatted and I'm now really stoked to write the article! I will let you all know when I'm finished and have submitted it to Newsvine.

While I was chatting with Jane, I kept thinking as we typed back and forth that Ben and I look really good in that profile picture my sister took back in September at the Festival. I mean, real good. The last time I liked a picture that I took with a guy was Jeff (ex-crush who is now married...) at this restaurant he worked at. At times I think he wasn't very kind because he didn't seem to care much about me or my feelings (he said one thing and did another) and well, we didn't work out and I'm actually happy about it now because we're nothing alike. I sort of cringe over the years of me even considering we'd be good together. I could never be with a guy like that. Especially with the company he keeps - his best friend's sister (one of my ex-close friends) is a nosey, insensitive and clingy meanie. Haha, I said meanie. She still stalks one of my really good friends, Matt (my Millhouse) and tries to get him to talk to her. Pssst...they use to date.

Now, I'm still trying to get Taylour's article published in the Greenville Reflector but everytime I call the dumb phone number, their lines are busy. For a small town newspaper, they are really busy! but, I'm going to still try because he deserves much more than he puts into his work. His stuff is really great and you all should check it out here at BlancFrank if you haven't already. He's got some new work up there and as usual, it's pretty awesome!

I watched "Pushing Daisies" last night (love that show!) and I have come to the conclusion, that that show is now one of my all-time favourites! Seriously. It's got great writing. Great characters. Great costumes! I love it all and I love how Ned and Chuck love each other to bits and the whole forced chastity adds a bittersweet chemistry between the two! Also, now that Ned's dad is back in town, I wonder what's going to unravel now...

So, I was made fun of last night by my sister because of a photo of George. You see, my family believes that my love for George Clooney is a giant joke and  it's not true. I really love the guy. Since I was nine years old. Madly. But this photo, that I wanted to take a look at of Georgie with a moustache makes everyone laugh at me. Like, it's bad to have a moustache. Firstly, my dad has one. I can see why it's a con on men I should be enamoured with but then again, Michael Johns had one...and that's a gigantic pro!

Now before you check out the moustached George, remember: it's for a movie (Men Who Stare At Goats, a war film based on British writer Jon Ronson’s satirical novel) and he's a good looking guy no matter what. No. Matter. What!

George Clooney - Magnum Watch '08 )

Yeah, so he looks a little sweaty in that last pic but he's a classy guy. With pulled up socks. That's just afterglow from him...uh...drinking a martini? Sigh. I love him, alright? Who cares if we're twenty four years apart! He's a good guy! Look how much he's done for Darfur and the UN! He's like, my hero!! I admire the dude a hell of a lot!

And for the record, I'm not a crazy creepy George lover. Not like this one girl that Kara pointed out on David Cook Official, lol. Yeah, it's true. Go read her entry here. The girl who claims she's in love with David is really...eccentric in her words.

In my opinion, I don't think you can't be in love with someone you've never met or seen just one side of. In order to be in love with someone, you need to physically, emotionally and mentally dive into that whole realm. See, I love George but I doubt I'm in love with George. You know?

What else? Ah, I'm done.
